Still Going Green!

                               Hello-06.gif
Hey! Last blog, I talked about plants in general. Well this blog, I'm going talking about about seed plants(: Enjoy!

What are seed-plants, you ask? Well, you will find out! This is what we're gonna be learning about(:

  • List all the characteristics of seed plants(:
  • Describe the main characteristics of gymnosperms and angiosperms, and how were they important?(:
  • Compare monocots and dicots(:

                              Characteristics of Seed Plants

  • This might be a shocker, but all seed plants have seeds!! :O For example... Pine cones are seeds! Weird, huh? Well yep, they are. They fall off trees, and turn into new trees, vuala(:

  • Another characteristic is that all seed plants have vascular tissues. Vascular Tissues bring food and nutrients throughout all the plant! (:

  • Seed plants use seeds to reproduce! (:

  • All seed plants grow, reproduce, and die in one year! :O Short life!

           Characteristics of Gymnosperms and
Angiosperms, how are they important?

  • Gymnosperms-  a vascular plant having seeds that are not enclosed in a small egg.
                              gymnosperms!
  • Angiosperms- a plant having its seeds enclosed in a small egg.
                                  angiosperms!

Anyway.. Let's start with those characteristics....

                   Gymnosperms!
  • Gymnosperms are the oldest trees alive today(:
  • Gymnosperms are all vascular(:
  • They produce seeds on female pine cones(:
  • Gymnosperms don't produce flowers or fruit(:
  • Their leaves are mostly needle-like or scale-like(:
  • The four divisions of gymnosperms are conifers, cycads, ginkgoes, and gnetophytes(:

                                     Angiosperms!

  • Angiosperms are vascular(:
  • They produce flowers and fruit(:
  • Their seeds are inside a fruit(:
  • More then half our plants are angiosperms(:

                                How Pretty! (:

Now... Almost done, Monocots & Dicots!

  • These are two groups of Angiosperms(:
  • They both have seeds in them...
  • But Monocots have 1 seed, while Dicots have 2 seeds..
  • They each have seedleaves in their seeds(:
  • There's one seed leaf per seed(:

Thanks for coming and reading my blog! :D Hope you learned a lot about seed plants! I got all my information from my Science Textbook, the Glencoe LIFE Science, pages 286-291! :D

  3. Zeina all seed plants do not die in one year. Annual plants die in one year, there is a big difference. You did not give the importance of gymnosperms and angiosperms like they are used in medicines, clothing, and etc.
