WHAT ARE WE?

Heyy (: Have you ever wondered... What we are? Ya know, we can't just have our own group. Humans need to be part of some type of group, like an animal group, right?. Well, did you know.. Huamans are in a group! An animal group actually. Well, we're not considered animals. This groups' name is...well it's called MAMMALS. Mammals are really interesting, actually. Considering.. Me and you are Mammals too! Here are SOME of the MANY animals that are today considered.. Mammals!

                So, anyway.... Let's get started!

  • I need to describe 5 characteristics of all mammals (:
  • What are the differences between plancental, monotremes, and marsupials mammals? (:
  • Compare the difference between the groups' babies! (:
  • Pick-A-Mammal-And-Teach-About-It-Thingy(:
     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, believe it or not.. Since we are mammals, we need to share some characteristics of all the other animals in our group! And... Here they are!
  • FIRST, you need to know.. They all have either hair or fur, or develop it sometime in their life! And it's hard to believe.. because whales and dolphins, well they need to have hair or fur sometime in their life! They're Marine Mammals, though. But still, that's something I would've never guessed!     --Always thought they were squeaky and clean. Hmm..
  • Next, All... mammals are warm-blooded! That means, yes! We're warm-blooded too! This means that they're body temperature stay the same.. ALWAYS, no matter what the weather is like(:
  • All mammals give milk to their young too! Like us, humans... And most other mammals, when we are babies, our moms feed us milk, because they have something called "Mammary Glands". They're used to produce milk for the baby. They're located on the female's body only, though. Since they feed. Some mammals feed through their nipples, while some sweat it off.
  • Also.. all mammals have lunges! Why? Because we need lunges to survive.. Ya know, breathing air and all. Unless you have gills, or something. Which means you can breathe in the water! So this means all mammals breathe air!
All mammals share two parents, obviously. Because mammals need 2 parents to have a kid. They reproduce sexually. Like us, we need to parents. At least, to start out with. Because you need to people to have a kid!(:
Now, introducing... Marsupials, Monotremes, and Placental Mammals!
What are they?
                   Example of Monotremes!
             Example of Marsupials!
             Example of Placental!
These are the three different groups of Mammals!
First, let's talk about the interesting-weird group, monotremes. These guys.. don't really fit in. Aside from the fact they're the smallest mammal group, They're the only type of mammals that lay eggs! Weirdos! And also, the females don't have nipples, which means for them to feed their baby milk.. They kinda just need to.. like, sweat it off! They have it the easy way, huh? An example of a monotreme is a platypus.
Unlike the odd Monotremes, this group DOES have nipples, and DOES NOT lay eggs. But the babies in this group is born very undeveloped.. They're sooo tiny, that they have to crawl in the mothers pouch. Since you heard "pouch".. Did you guess its a kangaroo? Your guess is correct! That's an example!
Now on to placental mammals! Hmmm, I think this is my favorite(: This group is the biggest group of all of them! Why? BECAUSE HUMANS ARE IN THIS GROUP! If you think of it, Humans basically took over the world. Placental give birth to really developed children. Like the opposite of Monotremes. Examples of Placental mammals are Dogs, Cats, whales, dolphins, monkeys, horses, cows, giraffes. Most of the "popular" animals.
aww!
Now.... Differences between Monotremes and Marsupial babies.
MONOTREMES BABY: The monotremes baby is born in a shell. The only group to be born in a shell, actually... And the monotremes baby mostly grows inside the mothers body before being hatched.
MARSUPIAL BABY: Marsupials' babies are born very undeveloped. They're so small, they have to be stuck inside the mom's pouch for a while, so they can be developed, and the world is safe for it!
PLACENTAL BABIES: Placental babies are born mostly developed. Some Placental babies are born SOO developed, once born!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Now..... The animal I'm picking is......... A BAT!

Ewwwwwwwwwwww. No! Wrong Picture!

Ahhhh. There we go!

Now, many people think of bats as vampires, that come and suck your blood. Supposedly on your neck. I don't know why! But I'm gonna teach you a little more about them then that they turn into men and woman that suck your blood, and you turn into one.... NO. These are the only mammals that can fly.. Why can they fly?! Because they have light, and hollow, but strong bones. JUST like birds! Are birds Mammals?! No. Depending on the type of bat.. IT can be as small as one inch.. Or as big as 16 inches!

FUN FACT: Most bats are gray, but there are some that are colorful.. Found in some places like Indonesia and CHINA. Anyway, beside from SUCKING BLOOD, they eat fruits, and insects. Bats live in caves, attics, abandoned buildings, trees, and other places. Most bats or at least some, carry RABIES. So I dont suggest you petting one. Or sticking your finger inside of it's mouth. Is that enough information? HOPE SO! It's time to end this awesome.. But long, blog o' mine!

Yup! It's come down to the end! I hope you learned tons! Come back for other blogs. :D Bye!
